Lottie Moon Christmas Offering

Lottie Moon Christmas Offering® for International Missions

Between the command of Jesus in the Great Commission and the vision of the Great Multitude in Revelation 7:9 is our Great Pursuit. We are present among the lost so they can hear the gospel and be represented around the throne of Jesus Christ for eternity.

Missionaries have counted the cost. Finding Christ worthy, they willingly go to the farthest corners of the earth – the cities, the hard-to-reach places, among the dispersed and displaced. But they do not serve alone. We support them through our prayers, through our giving and sometimes through our own presence.

This Great Pursuit starts with prayer. Will you join us in praying for the missionaries represented in our Week of Prayer guides. May God prepare us for the work ahead as we pray together.

Lottie Moon was sent as a Southern Baptist missionary to China from 1873 to 1912. She saw firsthand the world’s greatest problem -– LOSTNESS. Meeting so many people who had never heard the gospel compelled her to write letters to American churches describing the need for a greater missionary presence.

She pleaded for increased prayer and financial support to send and sustain more missionaries. This challenge became known as the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.

Southern Baptists observe a Week of Prayer for International Missions each year as part of the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering® emphasis.

  • Church Motto

    First......that all may know Jesus.

This is the motto of First Baptist Dayton, TN

    taken from 1 Timothy 2:3-5.

"For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,"

  • From the Pastor:

    Happy New Year FBC Family,

I am an optimist! Especially where the church is concerned! Someone once said an optimist sees a glass as half full, while a pessimist sees the glass as half empty.

I don’t know if I fit that example per se, but I do see the church as succeeding if we just follow the Lord’s commands!

He has promised overall church victory -

“Upon this rock (that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God) I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Here are some verses we must surrender to:

2 Timothy 4:2 – Preach the Word without apology.

Colossians 4:2 – Devote ourselves to prayer.

Acts 4:12 – Share Jesus as the only hope for salvation.

John 4:24 – Worship God in spirit and in truth.

1 Peter 5:2-3 – Serve humbly as godly examples.

Colossians 1:28-29 – Disciple young believers.

Matthew 9:37-38 – Workers step up to faithfully serve.

Ephesians 4:11-12 – Equip the saints for the work of ministry.

Revelation 2:4-5 – Keep our first love.

Matthew 16:18 – Jesus will build His church.
